A bit confusing,

Onkyo HT-S5200 7.1-Channel Home Entertainment Receiver/Speaker Package with iPod Dock (Black)The receiver has a great design and a very functional remote. There are a couple confusing aspects to this system.
o If you are using HDMI connection from components like PS3 or TIVO only the video portion is accepted by the receiver and you still need to add an optical audio input to drive sound from the device to the receiver. I thought that HDMI was going to eliminate additional cords? ...but not in this case
o Setting up the appropriate listening mode is also confusing as the receiver tries to automate appropriate delays between speaker zones and trying to set them up without noticeable echo is not easy.
Overall the quality is top notch although the speakers provided with this unit are average at best. I would recommend that you buy the receiver and speakers separately
Very Good Home Theater System for the Price,

Pros: Very good sound, especially with movies. Looks and feels like very good quality construction. Easy speaker equalization with the included setup microphone and long connecting wire. Plug & play IPOD dock. Strong subwoofer . Comes with two front speakers, a center speaker, four surround sound speakers, IPOD dock, equalization microphone, and a 10" subwoofer. Price at the time - $384.00 w/shipping.
Cons: IPOD dock system limits which IPOD models are compatible. Before you buy, check out compatible models by going to the Onkyo website, selecting this system from the "Products" tab, and view compatible IPOD models.
Overall: Before I ordered this system I checked it out at my local HH Gregg electronics store (Best Buy told me they were special order only) and compared it with other Onkyo and similar Yamaha systems. Although I think the tall front speakers that come with the more expensive Onkyo HT-S7200 7.1 channel system put out a little better sound, I don't think think you can find a better system at this price.
Impressive system,

The unit puts out quite a bit of heat, and I wish the bass was "punchier." But I can't complain. Assigning inputs is straightforward and the performance is outstanding. I researched home theater systems before purchasing this one and the reviews were right on target. I have not been disappointed. Using the self-setup (Audyssey) really brought the system to life. Do not judge the sound until you run the self-setup. The difference is night and day!
I'd never heard of Onkyo, but this product has made me a believer in the brand.
A WHOLE LOT OF BANG FOR YOUR BUCK !!!!!!!!,

ONKYO REALLY GOT THIS AUDIO SOUND QUALITY THING PACKED DOWN. I PURCHASED THIS SYSTEM A FEW WEEKS AGO TO COMPLIMENT A SONY BRAVIA THAT I WAS PURCHASING AS WELL. THIS SYSTEM HANDS DOWN BLEW ME AWAY JUST FROM THE SOUND QUALITY ALONE. EVERYTHING SOUNDS CRYSTAL CLEAR OUT OF THIS SYSTEM. THE SET UP WAS QUICK, AND EASY NO PROBLEMS AT ALL AS FAR AS GETTING THIS THING PUT TOGETHER, AND PLAYING. IT TOOK A TOTAL OF MAYBE 45 MINUTES TOPS TO GET IT UP AND RUNNING, BUT THEN I AM A ELECTRONICS FREAK ANYWAY, BUT SHOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM FOR MOST (EASY TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS). I USED A DIGITAL OPTICAL CABLE FOR MY CONNECTION, WORKS GREAT. I LOVE THE FACT THAT IT HAS AN IPOD DOCK THAT COMES WITH IT, MOST MY MUSIC IS LOADED ON MY IPOD ANYWAY, I CAN CREATE A PLAYLIST AND JUST SIT BACK AND ENJOY. THIS IS MY FIRST ONKYO PURCHASE, AND I AM BLOWN AWAY FROM THE SOUND QUALITY,AND THE SLEEK LOOK, WHICH COMPLIMENTS MY SONY BRAVIA WELL. I READ ALL THE REVIEWS FOR THIS SYSTEM AND DID A LITTLE HOMEWORK, AND COMPARISONS BEFORE I MADE THIS PURCHASE. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A BOSE FAN, BUT OPTED TO TRY SOMETHING NEW, AND I AM GLAD THAT I DID. TRUE 7.1 SURROUND SOUND WHEN I PLAYED MY BLU-RAY DISC, PS3, AND WII. UNIVERSAL REMOTE WAS EASY TO PROGRAM, AND CONTROLS ALL OF MY ELECTRONICS. THIS SYSTEM MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE IN THE ACTUAL MOVIE. THE SUB WOOFER IS GREAT, U CAN FEEL THE VIBRATIONS OF EVERY EXPLOSION. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HTS TO ANYONE WHO IS LOOKING FOR A SYSTEM TO PURCHASE.. GREAT BUY AT A REASONABLE PRICE. WORTH EVERY PENNY........
Perfect sound for low price,

Very easy installation, love this testing microphone letting you reach the best sound quality automatically. You just have to know that if you use 5 of 7 speakers,(front and back only) your REAR BACK speakers must be out of picture otherwise your Onkio will generate SP ERROR.
I'm very happy with my choice.
